LB-62

Moisture resistant covered electrode for 60kgf/mm2 high tensile steel.

Applications:

Shielded metal arc welding of 60kgf/mm2 high tensile steel for pressure vessels, penstocks, bridges, offshore constructions, vehicles and machinery.

Characteristics on usage:

LB-62 is an extra low hydrogen type electrode for all-position welding, which provides good mechanical properties for the weld metal and its coating is moisture resistant. X-ray soundness of the weld metal and usability are good in all-position welding. As the hydrogen content of the weld metal is especially low, the crack resistibility is good.

Notes on usage:

1. Dry the electrodes at 350~400C for about one hour before use.

2. Take the backstep method or strike the arc on a small steel plate prepared, because arc striking on base metal may cause cracking.

3. Preheat at 50-100C depending on the kind of steel and its thickness.

4. Carefully control welding current and speed, because excessive current or lower speed makes thicker weld metal and causes deterioration of impact values and 0.2% offset strength of the weld metal.
